Increasing complexity in fiber planning and design, necessitated the development of a tool that simplified and optimized the design process. The tool needed to be user-friendly, reduce human error, and deliver efficiency in the design process.
Existing solutions often failed to deliver automation and critical design decision-making.
Our aim was to create a tool that balanced automation and design decision-making, while integrating NBN™ UFA N2P network design standards.
Solution
The approach was to develop a semi-automated for the NBN™ network, capable pf handling NBN™ N2P UDD fiber planning and design. The tool needed to incorporate user-friendly features and be capable of enforcing network design rules to eliminate human error. The development of iMAP involved a meticulous design process.
Our solution offered built-in NBN™ UFA N2P network design standards, an intuitive GUI interface, and a Google Street View plug-in. It allowed for easy equipment drag-and-drop between support structures, automatic updating of cables with associated duct and trench, and even featured an in-built quality tool.
Results
With the introduction of iMAP, we experienced a substantial improvement in the planning and design process of the NBN™ network.
