Project

The NBN™ N2P project represented a significant upgrade to the National Broadband Network (NBN™), transitioning from Fiber to The Node (FTTN) to the more robust Fiber to The Premises (FTTP).
This involved verifying the initial desktop design against guidelines, generating a survey plan for each section, and updating the network design based on field mark-ups. By utilizing the Unified Fiber Architecture (UFA) guidelines, we were able to map and design the network more efficiently.

Solution

The project was broken down into different phases - Initial Desk Design (IDD), Updated Desk Design (UDD), and Construction Pack (CP), to ensure efficiency in the process. The primary tool used for these design tasks was our internal tool “iMAP”.
The entire project was carried out using MapInfo, based on network categories. The iMAP tool was used for the design tasks, which validated NBN™ architecture rules and guidelines and ensured consistency in design quality and output.
After the initial desk design was verified, a survey plan PDF was created for each section to be surveyed. Post field walkouts, the data was mapped, and the network was redesigned based on field mark-ups. Once the UDD was finalized, we prepared for the construction phase and updated the As-Built design as per construction notes.
